We
hope you are having an enjoyable summer. By the way,
if you are concerned that you somehow missed the July edition
of the newsletter, don't fret! We voted to take a month off,
but we are now back, rested and relaxed and ready for Fall.
Thanks
to everyone who joined us at our Summer
Pool Party; we had a nice turnout and the weather cooperated.
We appreciate all of the work that Karen Orofino did
in organizing the event - well done!
As a
reminder, our August meeting will feature a presentation
by Pam Courson and Marjorie Shulbank about the new
Autism Medicaid Waiver. We know that there
are many questions about the details of this program, and
they are looking forward to the opportunity to meet with us
and provide us

with
the information we need. We hope to see you there.
Incidentally, you may have read or heard about the work being
done on the Ruth
Eason School over the summer, and that, as a result, the
school will not be opening for students until August 30th.
We have checked with the staff to see if they anticipate any
problems in our being able to meet there on August 28th,
and have been advised that there is very little chance of
a problem occurring, since the current schedule has teachers
and staff re-occupying the building on August 20th.
If there are any last minute changes to this schedule, we
will be sure to notify everyone.

NAAR,
the upcoming fundraising event for the National Alliance for
Autism Research. As mentioned in our last newsletter,
our chapter will be participating as a walk team, now called
the "Anne Arundel Trailblazers". We encourage
everyone to participate in this worthy event, and to obtain
as many sponsoring pledges as possible. If you have
any questions about the event or our team, please contact
one of our team co-captains: Lucy Clark at (410)
349-1882 or Liisa Neumann at (301) 858-9322.
In closing, we wish to offer our condolences to our chapter
secretary, Amy Masser and her husband Norm on the recent
stillbirth of their daughter, Rebecca. It has been an
understandably difficult time for their family, and they have
been in our thoughts and prayers.
